The old skills of clambering over barbed wire fences are coming back to me.

It would certainly help if something better could be put in to improve the access, but I realise money is tight at the moment. It is doable - but that bridge over Burwell Lode is steeper than it looks.

I think I'll stick to Old Peculier.Jmehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18078208384599353066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2864052595440250048.post-63734604093729954312010-09-08T22:31:13.113+01:002010-09-08T22:31:13.113+01:00That barbed wire fence

The poor access from footbridge to new track is something that pressure is being applied about. Whatever is put there has to work for 2-3 years until the footbridge is replaced by a new bridge.

The design proposal for the new bridge over Burwell Lode will be on public view at Burwell's Gardiner Memorial Hall on Sat 18th Sept from 10:00 to 13:00.

Funding is somewhat uncertain, so anyone with about £1,000,000 to donate is most welcome to step forward.

And, for dislikers of gin, next time you're passing through Schiphol look for Oude Genever in the duty-free -- it's dirt cheap ;-). Put the bottle (some are stone bottles) in the freezer and drink neat, or add a touch of quinine water and a quarter of a lime squeezed. WARNING: this is not in any way like the brit G&T, and is the second fastest way I know to put alcohol into the bloodstream. If after that you still don't like it, I'll take the remainder of the bottle off your hands...

.... just as a public service.

MikeMikeCnoreply@blogger.com
