Sunday, 22nd June 2014: Well some good news – beer can make you smarter – I should be alright then. Except I am not a mouse and I don’t drink 3,500 pints of beer a day – no honest I don’t.
I am always going on about how dodgy the traffic can be around schools at drop-off and pick-up time. Apparently a toddler was hit by a reversing car at a Cambourne School. The Cambridge News poses the Question “How to you solve problem like Cambridgeshire Traffic”. Although the piece itself is rather flippant and pokes fun at farmers and cyclists in a rather predictable way and doesn’t seem to me to offer much if any journalistic insight their poll at the end of the piece comes out in favour of Congestion charges (27%) and banning all cars within the inner ring road (18%) – (when I looked anyway).
There is also to be a “Crackdown on reckless drivers and cyclists who jump level crossing lights in Cambridge area”. It seems to me that the addition of the word cyclists in the headline was a calculated addition to the headline to annoy cyclists. I have just read the British Transport Police release – Level crossing misuse”. The release mentions drivers and pedestrians but nothing about cyclists. Pedestrians for instance can face a fine of up to £1,000 and a criminal record if they are caught misusing a level crossing. Oh dear Cambridge News – will you setting up Twitter accounts of comely young maidens and be trying to get cyclists to text pictures of their willies next!
And finally an appalling report of road rage by the stereo typical angry driver – a white van man – on an 80-year old.

It doesn’t seem that CityJet have been operating for very long out of Cambridge Airport. Well apparently they will be stopping at the end of the Summer Season because of “shifting customer demand”. (They used to fly to Amsterdam and Dublin but not for much longer). Their website is still offering flights though.
